HISTORY

Located in the southwestern corner of the county, it borders the following townships:

  • Hartsgrove Township - north

  • Rome Township - northeast corner

  • Orwell Township - east

  • Bloomfield Township, Trumbull County - southeast corner

  • Mesopotamia Township, Trumbull County - south

  • Middlefield Township, Geauga County - southwest corner

  • Huntsburg Township, Geauga County - west

  • Montville Township, Geauga County - northwest corner
    No municipalities are located in Windsor Township, although the unincorporated community of Windsor lies in the township's east.

 

In addition to this township, other Windsor Townships are located in Lawrence and Morgan counties across the state, highlighting the name's use in Ohio. George Phelps, the earliest settler in Windsor Township, arrived from Connecticut in 1799. His arrival marked the beginning of the township's settlement history.
